Everything You Need to Know About Your Mercedes-Benz A and B Services

Since 1969, Heinz Gietz Autohaus has been San Diego’s most trusted service center for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Every service we provide includes a thorough inspection of the vehicle to look for possible wear, leaks, or other small problems so that they can be treated before they turn into major expenses down the road.

In this article, we’ll review the ASSYST Active Service System as well as both A and B services for your Mercedes.

Mercedes-Benz ASSYST Active Service System

Since 1997, all Mercedes-Benz models use a variation of the ASSYST Active Service System to help owners understand which vehicle services need to be performed and when they need to be performed. When a service is due, a wrench system will display on the dashboard including a message that reads “Service A” or “Service B”. Below the message, an odometer will count down, indicating exactly how many miles are left until the service is due.

This system will allow you plenty of time to make an appointment to ensure you are not performing services late or missing any important services. The system itself is an on-board computer system that alerts owners about service needs so that they can be addressed promptly and without hassle.

The system actively monitors the engine and other vehicle components for wear with special sensors and algorithms that will determine how many miles are needed between services. The ASSYST system is set to trigger between 9,000 miles and 15,500 miles, between 12 and 24 months, or whichever comes first.

Proper Mercedes-Benz Service

When you follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for scheduled maintenance, you are able to maintain the ideal performance and longevity of the vehicle. By performing the recommended Mercedes service on time, you will prevent malfunctions, ensure the safety of the vehicle, ensure fuel efficiency, reduce pollution, raise the resale value of your vehicle, give yourself peace of mind, and even lower the cost of operation. When basic services are ignored or delayed, it can create expensive problems later on. Even severely delaying an oil change or topping off the coolant too late can lead to cylinders needing a replacement.

At HG Performance, we take our time going over every aspect of your vehicle by printing out the manufacturer guidelines for service and going line by line to make sure your car stays up to date on all of its scheduled services. When your ASSYST system notifies you that your Mercedes-Benz is due for service, contact us to schedule a service appointment
