BMW E36 M3 with HG Design Full Roll Cage
Brandon Watson is a BMWCCA Instructor, Street Survival Instructor, and planned on taking his knowledge to competition in BMWCCA Club Racing, and in NASA GTS. To take his E36 into “wheel to wheel” competition he is required to have a full roll cage. He came to us needing not only a roll cage but one that met his I prepared class and NASA GTS rules.
Our solution was an 8.5 point full cage made of 1 3/4 .095 DOM. Designed and Fabricated in house using TIG welding. The cage consist of a main hoop with diagonal brace and harness bar, rear vertical bars, A pillar bar with knee bar, “x” style door bars with clamshell gussets, “A” frame rear auxiliary supports, and anti foot intrusion bars.
The addition of the cage gave the car significant body rigidity resulting in a sharper response. That sharper feedback and the confidence that he was protected allowed him to push the car further than he previously had to and achieve a personal best time at Chuckwalla Valley Raceway his first time driving after the cage was completed.
